Transit card (T-money, etc.)
Buy and top up at convenience stores or stations. One card works on buses, the subway, and taxis.
How it works
1. What it is
In Korea, T-money works on buses and the subway nationwide, including in Busan, and there are also Busan-specific transit cards. Japanese IC cards do not work as-is, so you need a Korean card.
2. Buying and topping up
You can buy one at convenience stores (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven and others) or station kiosks. The card itself and the balance are separate, so you add credit when you buy. Top-ups are usually done in cash at a convenience store counter or a station ticket machine.
- Buy a card at a convenience store or station
- Add credit in cash at the counter or machine
- Tap it when you board
3. Using it
Tap on buses when you board, and at the gate both entering and exiting the subway. Many taxis accept the card too. If the balance is too low you will get an error on exit, so top up before it runs out.
Tips
- Having one card makes transfers much easier.
- Top-ups are often cash only.
- Watch your balance and check it before you travel.
